Sonja Grgar

Sonja Grgar is a writer, dancer, and a freelance journalist who has worked in print, radio and television. In her writing, Sonja attempts to portray the poetic complexities of existence. What she finds the most meaningful about the written word are its limitations; that it is an imperfect expression of our life and breath. It is precisely that imperfection that Sonja finds the most poetic, and within which she seeks to live and create.

Her monologue Smaller Names explores the dynamics of silencing of women’s voices/stories and the trauma and shame they endure as they speak. Art Pouchet
smal-artpouchet Art is a poet who came to poetry in 2008, and has since been exploring ‘themes of dark and light and how emotions struggle in a dichotomy of known and unknown conditions’. After 65 years of being identified with his external accomplishments such as ‘a psychologist, religion-ist, familyman-ist, business person-ist, musician-ist, counselor and therapist’, now he recognizes himself for what he truly is, ‘a dreamer, a poet, a wordsmith and a person lost in the soundwaves of an imagination bigger than his own’. Art has presented his work at the BC Authors Association Open Mic event in Vancouver, and he is being ‘happily mentored’ in his poetry adventure by Candice James, two term Poet Laureate of New Westminster BC. Art will be sharing selections from his potentially published work entitled, Chaos and Enlightenment.
